How to add OneNote tasks to Microsoft Planner?

Overview With Microsoft OneNote you can keep your documents handy. Connect with partners or colleagues to get work done via OneNote. Microsoft Planner is a task planning and collaboration solution for teams which integrates with other Microsoft products. The Better Grind's OneNote Planner Template for Professionals is the daily planner that I have developed, trialed and tested over the past three years of my professional career. It's the tool that I use to write out daily priorities, to manage my weekly tasks list and to keep track of my long term career goals. The planner is designed to.

Tasks arise out of notes from the OneNote App.

So you need an easy way to create a task in Microsoft Planner fromOneNote. Here is the tricky part! Right now, there is no direct wayto create a planner task from OneNote. But we have made it possibleusing our Wunder365 Web Extension App(Chrome, Edge,…).

Step 1 - Select the note in OneNote for which you need to create aPlanner task.

Step 2- Click on the Wunder365 Chrome extension icon “+” icon.That’s it. The planner task is created in the Planner app and the linkto the task is made available for your reference.

The best part is, you can configure the fields in Planner tasks suchas Task title, Notes, Start/Due date, Assignment, and Priority forrepeated tasks as Template using built-in Macros, so you don’t need toenter the values again and again.

How To Install The Free OneNote Planner Template

Follow these simple instructions to download and install the template:

  1. If you don’t have a Microsoft account already sign up here.
  2. Check your email for the download link.
  3. Download the ‘2020 The Better Grind Monthly Calendar Template’.
  4. The download is compressed, un-zip the file, so you have a regular folder.
  5. In any modern web browser, visit OneNote Notebook Importer.
  6. Login with your Microsoft account and click ‘Import’.
  7. Select the ‘2020 The Better Grind Monthly Calendar Template’ folder extracted in Step 4.
  8. When the upload is completed visit OneDrive and login with your Microsoft account.
  9. Click ‘Documents’.
  10. Select ‘2020 The Better Grind Monthly Calendar Template’.

You can start editing the notebook straight away online. I recommend you click ‘open in app’ to open the notebook in OneNote for Desktop.

How to Download OneNote Desktop

I really recommend using the template in the desktop version of OneNote. The desktop version runs faster than the online interface:

  1. You can download the software for free here.
  2. Visit OneDrive and login with your Microsoft account.
  3. Click ‘Documents’.
  4. Select the 2020 The Better Grind Weekly Career Planner.
  5. Click ‘Open in App’.

Then, the planner will now open in OneNote Desktop.

Does OneNote Include Calendar Templates?

If you’re a long time OneNote user you may have used Microsoft’s online calendar templates before. OneNote no longer includes calendar templates within the software.

How Do I Create My Own OneNote Calendar?

If you’re inspired to create your own OneNote calendar it’s pretty straightforward!

This is how we created The Better Grind Monthly Calendar Template:

  • Create the calendar images in a graphic design software. I used canva, as are lots of calendar templates you can download as-is, or you can take as a base and edit.
  • Export each page of the calendar as a .png image file.
  • Create a new notebook for your calendar.
  • Place each page of your calendar as an image in the notebook.
  • Right click the image and select ‘set picture as background’.
